Run for the Trails!

Posted on Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Join us August 8th, 2015, for the 6th Annual Pufferbelly 5K Family Run/Walk and 1 Mile Kids' Fun Run and  October 18th for the Trail Blazer 5k/10k race.

The Pufferbelly begins at the Parkview Family YMCA,   and a portion of the race will be run on the Salomon Farm Trail and the newly constructed section of the Pufferbelly Trail from the Parkview YMCA to Wallen Road. The proceeds from the Pufferbelly are used to further our work in converting the former New York Railroad into a paved recreational path that, when completed, will link downtown Fort Wayne to Pokagon State Park in Angola. Over the past five years, the Pufferbelly Race has helped to raise almost $40,000 for trail construction, and matched additional funds from other sources.

The Trail Blazer begins and ends at Summit Middle School on Homestead Road. The 5k route will be entirely on the trails, and the 10k route is nearly 75% on trails.  Funds raised are used to build trails throughout our community.

Both races will offer special opportunities for teams that register, and both will also have children’s fun run as well.
