Newest Section of Union Chapel Trail Celebrated with Ribbon Cutting
On Monday, October 5, we celebrated the opening of the newest section of the Union Chapel Trail! This 0.68-mile stretch connects the Pufferbelly Trail at Life Bridge Church to Coldwater Road.
The project also includes a new sidewalk connection from the trail to Maple Creek Middle School, made possible by a generous gift from Fort Wayne Trails.
Looking ahead, future phases of the Union Chapel Trail will extend the connection to Metea Park and the Cedar Creek Parks Trail, creating even more opportunities for our community to enjoy the outdoors.
This project was made possible through the collaboration and support of the Allen County Commissioners, Northwest Allen County Schools, Allen County Highway Department, Northeastern Indiana Regional Coordinating Council, and Fort Wayne Trails.
Thank you to all our partners for helping expand our community’s trail network and create more opportunities to connect with the outdoors!
“Trails are an asset, and we will continue to invest in connectivity,” declared Commissioner Therese Brown at today’s ribbon cutting for the completed stretch of the Union Chapel Road Trail, Phase I.
Construction on Phase 2 is planned for 2027.
