Ludwig to Washington Center and Dupont Underpass To Open by Year's End
Two new sections of the Pufferbelly Trail in Fort Wayne Will Open before Year’s End.
The Pufferbelly Trail from Ludwig Road to Washington Center Road is almost finished, and work is in progress. It will open to the public on November 16th, according to the City of Fort Wayne. Mark your calendars now for the Ribbon Cutting for new sections of the Pufferbelly, which is scheduled for November 26th at 1:30pm. The location will be announced soon. Fort Wayne Trails assisted The City of Fort Wayne in receiving $1.7 million from the Regional Development Authority/Regional Cities to help fund the creation of this trail.
North of here, construction continues on the Pufferbelly Trail below-grade crossing at Dupont Road. The contractor and the City of Fort Wayne estimate that this section of the trail will be open to the public by mid-December, along with a new trail and sidewalk on Dupont Road, from Lima to Coldwater Roads.
Once these sections of the Pufferbelly Trail are both completed, trail users will be able to travel uninterrupted from Life Bridge Church off of Corbin Rd. south 4.8 miles to Washington Center Rd near the new Cookie Cottage location.
